OFFICIAL PROGRAMME NOW AVAILABLE
From 21st to 26th May, Teatro Sá da Bandeira in Santarém will host the 18th edition of the Santarém International Film Festival (FICS) — a cinematic gathering that explores the land, territories, and the pressing challenges of our time through the lens of cinema.
With a programme dedicated to agricultural, rural, and environmental themes, FICS reaffirms its role as a space for critical reflection, collective imagination, and artistic exchange. Over the course of six days, films from a wide range of countries will be screened, including entries in national and international competitions, special sessions, premieres, and parallel events.
The festival offers a grounded cinema experience with a forward-looking vision — bringing together documentaries and fiction films that delve into themes such as food sovereignty, rural life, climate crisis, and social movements linked to the land. The programme also features debates with filmmakers, school screenings, family-friendly activities, round tables, masterclasses, an animation workshop, exhibitions, and “Cinema at the Table” experiences.
