PEDRO DE FILIPPIS

Pedro de Filippis is a filmmaker from Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais, Brazil).
His debut feature film, Rejeito (2023) — winner of the ISLA Golden Bunch Award for Best International Film at the 17th edition of FICS — continues his exploration of post-colonialism and has been screened at festivals such as IDFA, Hot Docs, and Cinéma du Réel.

In 2016, Pedro was selected for the Doc Nomads master's programme, during which he directed films in Portugal, Hungary, and Belgium over two years.

He is an alumnus of the Logan NonFiction and Points North Fellowship programmes in the United States. In 2021, he was nominated for the Global Emerging Filmmaker Award by Netflix and the International Documentary Association (IDA).

He is currently researching documentary film with a focus on science communication, at the Virtual Extension Memory Centre of the Federal University of Minas Gerais.
