Last Friday, March 15th, Cineclube de Santarém officially presented the 17th edition of the International Film Festival of Santarém, which will take place from May 15th to 19th, 2024.


The first programme news: the  opening film will be "A Flor do Buriti", directed by João Salaviza and Renée Messora, which serves as inspiration for the theme under discussion in the Spotlight section, dedicated to the struggles of resistance of indigenous peoples, threatened by globalization and climate change, from remote locations such as the Amazon, Nepal, Mexico, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

We also announced that the jury will include filmmaker Coco Tassel, programmer Pedro Barreiro, and environmentalist Joana Guerra Tadeu. Other jury members will be announced during the month of April. 

There's also a significant increase in partners, including ISLA and INATEL, who will sponsor the international and national awards, respectively, RTP2, ANTENA 1, and ANTENA 3 as media partners, and the Municipalities of Almeirim and Alpiarça, where the Educational Project Sementes e Rebentos will also be held.
